Besides going to the beach, (a 30 minute drive), there are a number of remarkably beautiful places to visit in the area round about, all within a short distance of our houses.
 
EL HACHO. 2 Kms. 
Enjoy a  bird s-eye view of the town and surrounding countryside from the 559-metre high Monte Hacho .  If you are adventure, put on your hiking boots and rise  to the challenge. 
 
 
EL CHORRO. 12 Kms West.  
Three stunning lakes, surrounded by a pine forest, created by a dam that was built across the 200m high Guadalhorce River Gorge known as the "Garganta del Chorro".  Climbing, hiking, mountain biking for the most active, and bird watching, photographing nature, swimming or fishing for the easy going. 
Scan the cliffs for eagles and falcons … and don't forget to take picnic ! 
 
THE HEALTH SPA AT CARRATRACA. 
20 Km West. 
If a Natural Spa appeals to you, take this country drive through olives and almond groves to find this unique place. Here there are hot sulfuric springs which, since Roman times, have been famous for their healing waters . (NB The baths are open only at certain times of year).  
 
 
THE TOWN of ANTEQUERA. 
35 km to the North-East.  
Known for being one of Andalucia's richest farmlands, Antequera's most impressive sites are its "Dolmens". These pre-historic burial chambers, made of huge slabs of rock, were constructed by the original Iberian people and date back 5.000 years.
 
EL TORCAL Nature Reserve. 35 Km to the North-East.  
The natural rock formations of this park, made of limestone,are among the most beautiful and impressive landscapes in Europe. 
 
 
THE LAKE of FUENTE de PIEDRA. 38 Km to the North-East.  
One of the largest natural lakes in Spain, also known as "The Pink Lagoon", this is a favourite watering hole for pink flamingos on their winter migration to Africa. 
 
 
RONDA. 50 Km West.  
One of the most charming towns in Andalucia. It is famous for the plunging river gorge "El Tajo" which divides the medieval from the 18th century parts of the town. 
  
Alora is also on the main railway line between Malaga and Cordoba and is well served by local buses.
